Rebel Wilson is coming to a department store near you!
The Pitch Perfect actress is launching her own clothing line, set to sell in Nordstrom, Dillard’s and Lord & Taylor stores across the US this summer.
The collection will serve the 14+ size market, a historically underserved demographic. InStyle reports that Wilson is “personally sensitive to the societal pressures of beauty standards and the weightist paradox of a fashion industry that uses the term ‘plus size’ to describe clothes that are in fact more representative of the norm.”
“I was a young woman making money, and there were no clothes to buy. It felt like if you were over a certain size, designers didn’t care about you.”
The move to create a fashion line, although not necessarily expected, is unsurprising. Wilson explained that she’s always had to create roles for herself, and this is her newly added role.
The line is very different than the characters she portrays, as Wilson wants to make clothes for the everyday woman. Featuring trendy jackets and sophisticated dresses, the collection will keep things classy, with just a few touches of Rebel’s wit. Additionally, most pieces will cost under $100! The brand may eventually expand into shoes, bags, and activewear as well.
We can’t wait to see what Rebel does next!
