If you needed any more proof that trans model Stav Strashko was the absolute sweetest, we’ve got it right here.
In a recent project, the top international model got to help one lucky photographer, Reiko Wakai, make her dream photo shoot come to life.
Wakai was selected as the winner of the Wix Capture Your Dream Photo Campaign (hosted by Wix.com aka the free website builder), a contest in which photographers could submit their portfolios and describe their dream photo shoot for the chance for it to become a reality. She chose to do a zero-gravity photo shoot with her model of choice, Stav. Spoiler alert, the photos are amazing.
Strashko was, of course, thrilled to be apart of the shoot and said,
“When I was asked to participate, I was so happy and honored that Reiko had chosen me to be part of her dream shoot. It was humbling. My job is to look beautiful for the camera, and in this situation, I also had to be graceful in zero gravity – an element I was completely unfamiliar with and it was a real challenge. Leading up to and on the day of the shoot was surreal. We became one big family working together to accomplish one crazy beautiful idea.”
“I never thought I would experience zero gravity, let alone participate in a photo shoot under those conditions. This was one of the biggest tests of my career – making sure that I was able to convey Reiko’s vision in the limited time that we had, while floating in air! I will never forget this experience and was so happy to help make Reiko’s dream come to life.”
Does anything warm your heart more than people supporting other people’s dreams?
We adore this collaboration and can’t wait to see the future work from both of these artists.
Stav has always been an inspiration to us — she’s constantly proving again and again that trans is beautiful. She’s continued to break barriers and was recently named as Proenza Schouler’s new muse. She also represents an often overlooked group of trans women who have no interest in getting gender reassignment surgery. She previously said,
“By definition, transgender doesn’t include only those who have had surgery; it’s just someone who identifies with another gender. But I never wanted to go through the surgery — I feel comfortable in my body.”
This sentiment was recently echoed by another trans activist, Jazz Jennings, who said she has no interest in top surgery.
