Last week, Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon revealed that the film features Disney’s first “exclusively gay moment”.” Many rejoiced, ourselves included.
Sadly, some are not on board and are even taking action against the film.
The Beauty and the Beast gay character LeFou has been subject to criticism and it is frankly disgusting.
In the most ridiculously dramatic and intolerant way, a drive-in theater in Alabama is opting to not show the movie. Check out their post announcing the choice below, and prepare to roll your eyes.
The post has since been removed from the theater’s page. Hmm….
Additionally, a Russian lawmaker is pushing for the country to ban the film entirely. Calling the movie “a blatant, shameless propaganda of sin and perverted sexual relationships,” Vitaly Milonov urges the government to take action.
I need to go lie down.
Once the nausea has passed, let your actions speak in response. Let love prevail and go see the film when it premieres on March 17!
