In a new campaign, Cheerios will mail you wildflower seeds for the low price of zero dollars. Just in time for spring and summer! And it’s for a good cause: saving bees.
You knew there had to be a catch, right?
The bee population has been declining at a rapidly alarming rate. We know what you’re probably thinking. No more bees? Great! Those things have been ruining my summer picnics for as long as I can remember!
Although they can be pesky critters, their survival is absolutely crucial to our environment.
For this reason, Cheerios is partnering up with Veseys Seeds for the #BringBackTheBees campaign.
Cheerios is mailing out wildflower seed packets to help create bee-friendly environments across the country. The company pledged to continue the campaign until they sent out 100 million wildflower seeds.
Well good news: they’ve hit their goal! But don’t worry, there are still free seeds left if you act fast.
General Mills is even taking Buzz the Bee off of Honey Nut Cheerios boxes to make a statement about this alarming environmental disaster. They wrote on Twitter,

According to the campaign’s website, 42% of bee colonies collapsed in the U.S. in 2015.
How does this affect you? Well, one in three bites of food we eat is made possible thanks to bees and other pollinators. The impact spans across our entire agricultural and food systems, as well as other areas of life that we still have to learn about.
So if you want to help #BringBackTheBees, check out their website for more info and to order your free seeds. You can expect them to arrive in about a month.
