Karrueche Tran and Chris Brown haven’t been together for nearly five years, but it looks like Chris hasn’t received the memo.
On June 9th, Karrueche’s boyfriend, former football player Victor Cruz posted a picture of the two to his Instagram with the caption,
“Been missing my little ratchet boo @thequeenvirginia. Happy I get to see her tonight at 9 p.m. … lol.”
The super adorable caption served as a shout out to Karrueche’s hit TV show Claws.
But Cruz’s admiration for his girlfriend was soiled in the comment section.
On June 13th, four days after Victor posted the picture, Chris thought it would be a good idea to give his unsolicited opinion. He commented,
“No shade boo… BUT PLEAS STYLE HIM. He looks like he shopping of the manikin and trying to bargain with the sales manager.”
After leaving six comments, he finished his trolling with,
“Peace love and joy… JUST PLEASE UPGRADE YA MAN BOO.”
Earlier that day, Brown posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story. “Is it a sucka move to think about your ex?”
No, Chris, it isn’t. But it is a “sucka move” when you go out of your way to go on your ex’s boyfriend’s page just to make fun of him for no reason. Naturally, his now deleted comments caused quite a stir online with most people poking fun at Chris’ pathetic stunt. But looking back at Karrueche and Chris’ relationship and Chris’ history of domestic violence, Chris’ “innocent” comments are a part of a deeper problem.
Chris admitted in a deleted Instagram video that he stalks and harasses women he dates/dated.
“Ladies, y’all be complaining about n***as being, like, stalkers and in love with y’all, kinda crazy and shit and you get tired of it. Well, guess what? I’m one of them n***as! If I love you, bitch, ain’t nobody gonna have you. I’m gonna make you miserable. I’m going to chase that n***a out, and I’m gonna chase yo ass around, and it’s done.”
Does he think this is going to work on Karrueche and Victor?
Karrueche and Chris’ tumultuous on-again-off-again three-year relationship officially ended in 2014 when Karruche found out that Chris had gotten another woman pregnant.
But it wasn’t until 2017 when she filed for a restraining order against the singer that she came forward with the abuse that she faced at the hands of Chris. In the document, she said that Chris threatened to kill her:
“He said if no one else can have me, then he’s gonna ‘take me out.’”
Their neighbor, singer KayCola confirmed Karrueche’s claims. In a series of tweets, she said,
“I’ve heard him beating her myself. I even called the police. I used to cry over that situation hearing her screaming at the top of her lungs because I am also a victim of domestic violence.”
Karrueche also said that Chris punched her in the stomach twice and pushed her down the stairs a few years earlier. No police report was filed, most likely because Chris still would have been on probation for his assault of Rihanna in 2009.
Ever since he was outed as an abusive piece of garbage, Chris has been known for his violent behavior. Besides being violent against women, the singer reportedly jumped Frank Ocean in 2013 after Ocean declined to shake his hand. The police report stated that Brown “punched the victim on the side of his face”, two other men jumped in on the fight and called Ocean a “f****t”. Brown also threatened to kill Ocean. In the same year, he threw a rock through his mother’s car window after they disagreed about whether the singer should stay in rehab.
It’s time to realize that no amount of rehab or therapy is going to fix him. Once an abuser, always an abuser. What Chris is doing to Karruche is a textbook abuse tactic. As he said in his video, he’s going to make her miserable. There may be a restraining order in place but that won’t stop him from bothering her via social media. It doesn’t matter that Karrueche has moved forward with her life, Chris is always going to be there.
But the question needs to be asked: how has he not been canceled yet?
In a generation that is known for its cancel culture, Chris has remained untouched. Frankly, his career should have been over when he sent Rihanna to the hospital.
This isn’t someone who made a “mistake.” It wasn’t a mistake that he almost killed Rihanna, beat Karrueche, attacked Frank Ocean, and terrorized his mother. He knows exactly what he’s doing.
Abusers are master manipulators, they are aware of everything that they’re doing. He knows the amount of pain and trauma he caused Karrueche and he knows that her seeing his name pop up at any moment could trigger her. For all intents and purposes, he’s this generation’s R. Kelly.
There’s no separating the man from the art. He needs to be canceled. Period.
On a positive note, Karrueche is thriving with Victor Cruz and they were recently seen at Milan Fashion Week unbothered and in love. We love a happy, healthy queen.
