Chrissy Teigen is basically the master of hosting the perfect party. Not only is she an A+ chef (uh, have you read her cookbook Cravings?), but she also knows how to put together the best bash ever.
And now Teigen is dishing on how to pull together the perfect summer barbecue, even if you’re not a master chef yourself. The model is currently working on a second cookbook, but in the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for her first batch of recipes to get us through the summer.
Check out her top tips below for pulling together your next get-together.
Prepare a Food Bar
Who says bars are just for alcohol? Teigen says,
“I love a bar of anything. I love being able to put together a Frito pie bar, or a taco bar, or anything where people can see fresh ingredients out and be able to pick and choose what they want. We’re all different. We all have certain versions to certain things.”
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exclude a drinks bar. She adds that a cocktail bar “just makes everything look very cool, very casual.”
Keep it Chill
A party doesn’t have to be crazy expensive to be fun. In fact, she often surprises her friends with how low-key her gatherings tend to be.
“A lot of people when they come to our home they think that we’re going to have hors d’oeuvres passed out and a DJ playing, but no, we plug it into the iPod. We like to be very relaxed. We want everybody to get that vibe from the second they walk in. That’s why I think it’s really important to have a self-serve bar. It doesn’t intimidate people. You have all of your alcohols lined up. You have all fresh garnishes to add. People can really do what they want and just enjoy the party.”
Her suggestion for your 4th of July party? Her classic “Berry ‘Merica Punch.” All it takes is 1 cup berry flavored vodka, 1 cup regular vodka, 2 cups blackberry seltzer water, and 4 cups lemonade.
