While many brands are completely missing the mark when it comes to diversity and inclusion, others are making amazing strides towards achieving equal representation.
The latest brand to do so is actually making history.
Drugstore brand Wet N Wild (i.e. a cosmetic staple for those of us ballin’ on a budget) just announced Diandra Forrest as the face of its newest major campaign. Diandra is the first model with albinism to represent a major beauty campaign. Way to go Wet N Wild and Diandra!
You’ve seen Diandra before in a few Calvin Klein ads and in Beyoncé’s video for Pretty Hurts. We are so excited to see her add this campaign to her resumé.
She’s not the only badass lady to join this campaign that the brand calls “Breaking Beauty”, which “celebrates inclusivity and aims to focus the limelight on physical characteristics we’ve been trained to cover up, disguise, or distract from,” Refinery29 reports.
Diandra will be joined by Valentijn de Hingh, a transgender model, DJ, and writer, and Mama Cāx, a cancer survivor, and amputee activist.
Diandra took to Instagram to express her excitement for the campaign. She wrote,
“So excited to announce that I am one of the faces of the new Wet & Wild BREAKING BEAUTY CAMPAIGN. It’s always great to be apart of a brand that celebrates diversity, and prides itself on being inclusive to all! Thank you to the @wetnwildbeauty team.”
We can’t wait to see more of this campaign (and stock up on Wet N Wild products while we’re at it.)
