There’s only one thing better than giving something heartfelt to someone you love: having the chance to give back to the community at the exact same time.

So, this holiday season, as you shop for your loved ones, look for brands that give back in a big way. And to help you out, we’ve gathered a list of some of the coolest brands that are committed to helping the world.

Nike is estimated to be worth nearly $16 billion and they’ve decided to put that money towards a variety of efforts. Their Community Impact program gives grants to local organizations, partners with schools in Oregon to increase graduation rates, and works with Native American youth to get them active.

But perhaps most notable is the Nike co-founder himself Phil Knight, who announced a plan last year to donate nearly all of his $125 billion fortunate to charity. So far, he’s followed through on that promise by donating $100 million to cancer research and $125 million to cardiovascular research.

Prabal Gurung

Prabal Gurung is perhaps one of my favorite activist designers. Not only has he become a huge advocate for body representation in fashion, but he’s also committed his time and money to Planned Parenthood via his fall collection. His newest project? His spring 2018 collection “Stronger in Colour,” promotes “a world that is free of bias, free of prejudice.” Proceeds go straight to the ACLU.

Everlane launched their 100% Human collection back in 2016 to advocate for civil rights after the election. For every piece sold, the brand donates 10% to the ACLU. They’ve already donated more than $1 million and have no plan on stopping anytime soon.

Tory Burch

Designer Tory Burch has long been a known activist, advocating for equal voting rights and female empowerment. Tory launched the foundation in 2009, only five years after starting her eponymous clothing company. The foundation aims to empower female entrepreneurs by providing funding, access to affordable loans, mentoring, and networking opportunities. Below are some of their products that directly benefit the foundation.

Missguided isn’t particularly known for their activism but they’ve really stepped up since the Black Lives Matter movement had a resurgence this summer. They currently have an Anti-Racist collection, from which they donate 10% of sales to Stop Hate UK.

Levi’s has been a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community and has a Pride collection all year long, not just during Pride Month in June. The brand donates 100% of the net proceeds to Outright Action International, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the human rights of LGBTQ people around the world.

This is perhaps one of the more surprising ones on the list. Kohl’s currently has a collection of super cute t-shirts that promote Black Lives Matter, civil rights, and equality. Kohl’s has already donated $100,000 to the National Urban League.

For a few of the shirts, they even partnered with the black-owned company Cream City Print Lounge to design the tees.

Ok, this one is pretty obvious. But with their growing collection of boots, sneakers, and more, we couldn’t exclude them. Toms follows the one-for-one model in which they donate a pair of shoes for every pair bought. They’ve already donated nearly one million pairs of shoes to those in need.

On top of that, the brand donated $2 million to global COVID relief efforts, supports the organization The Mix (which offers free counseling for those struggling with mental health issues), and works with Magic Bus (which aims to make sure kids complete their education.)
