The Janelle Monae Fem the Future brunch was epic and you weren’t invited. The singer hosted the first annual #FemTheFuture event for women of color in all aspects of the entertainment industry to come together.
The event looked absolutely stunning and was held in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Attendees included Essence‘s entertainment director Cori Murray, Nigerian musician Tiwa Savage, blogger Luvvie Ajayi, Nigerian/American singer Jidenna, Actress Lupita N’yongo, singer Esperanza Spalding, Black Girls Rock! creator Beverly Bond and more.
According to HelloBeautiful, the event was sponsored by Toyota’s Women’s Empowerment Initiative. The brunch included performances as well as a chance for all the women to chat about how they can get more women involved in the industry. Awesome!
