Katy Perry’s new single, “Chained to the Rhythm” may be super catchy, but it also has a deep message which she shows in her newest music video.
Perry’s video takes place in Oblivia, the theme park that shows everyone following the same step. The theme park is supposed to be seen as a “perfect” place, however, it is far from that. Instead, roller coasters are going too fast and have missing pieces, houses fly over everyone on little strings that could break at any moment and the theme parks works by people running on hamster wheels until they are exhausted.
It isn’t until Skip Marley comes out of a 3-D movie and wakes up to his presence that Perry also realizes everyone is acting in synchrony and she tries to snap them all out of it.
The living in oblivion theme makes sense being Perry’s Grammy performance was about not building a wall and not being oblivious to what is going on around us at the moment either.
We applaud Perry for being vocal on the issues at hand right now and are in love with this music video.
