Kendall might just be the wisest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
Kendall Jenner may be 20 years old, but she is certainly mature way beyond her years.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, let us give you the backstory: In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, supermodel Stephanie Seymour called Kendall and her model bestie Gigi Hadid “bitches of the moment,” and said they did not deserve to be called supermodels. So uncalled for!
But Kendall Jenner is taking the higher road and has responded in the classiest way possible. She took to her website to write a post titled “My Thoughts on the ‘Supermodel’ Debate.” Not to sound dramatic, but it was brilliant. Read below:
Gigi sent me the most recent rant and I’m disappointed. If you’re going to tell us not to be in ”your moment,’ then don’t be in mine! This moment is all about being supportive—NOT cyberbullying. But, if you choose to be a cyberbully, I’m going to stick up for myself. No one is trying to steal Stephanie Seymour’s thing, or trying to be her. I actually looked up to her. She has a daughter! I guarantee you that she didn’t imagine someone so publicly shaming her daughter when she made those comments about us being ‘bitches of the moment.’
Being a ‘supermodel’ is a relative term. If people want to call Gigi and I supermodels now, it doesn’t take anything away from supermodels of the past. Obviously, I have so much respect for those women, but right now, we’re the models of this time. Significant? Maybe. Hardworking? For sure….When I’m older, I’m going to be so nice to anyone who’s trying to do the same thing as me. There are other supermodels who give me tips and build up my confidence, sending me notes after a spread comes out, saying, ‘You’re killing it.’ That’s the classy way to behave and I fully intend on being a positive influence on anyone younger than me, my entire life.
update: Adriana Lima Defends Kendall Jenner
Turns out these models have each other’s backs! Victoria’s Secret vet Adriana Lima recently came to Kendall Jenner’s defense when it comes to all the haters who don’t believe Kendall’s a “real” model.
Adriana told E! News, “You know, she works as hard as we do, so I give her credit for all the effort.”
She added that not only is Kendall a hard-worker but she’s also a pleasure to be around!
“I have worked with Kendall on runways before when we were in Europe, like Versace and also with Victoria’s Secret. Kendall is very sweet and very nice, and it’s always pleasant to work with someone like that.”
We love to see powerful women stand up for each other instead of tearing one another down. In case you forgot, this whole mess started a while back when model Stephanie Seymour claimed that Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid weren’t real supermodels and called them “bitches of the moment.”
At the time, Kendall wrote a response on her website defending herself and explaining how hard-working she truly is.
