All hail Kristen!

Kristen Bell is officially our new hero! Speaking out about mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression can often be taboo, especially for celebrities who are expected to be perfect.

But Kristen just broke her silence by telling her own story.

In an interview with Off Camera, she explained, “I struggled a lot with anxiety and depression… I got on a prescription when I was really young and I still take it today and I have no shame in that.”

Even better, she encouraged others who may be similarly afflicted to get help as well, and not let the stigma of mental illness hold them back.

“If you do decide to go on a prescription to help yourself, understand that the world wants to shame you for that, but in the medical community, you would never deny a diabetic his insulin. Ever. But for some reason, when someone needs a serotonin inhibitor, they’re immediately crazy or something.”

We love Kristen’s honesty as well as her words of encouragement. Check out the full interview below. Keep up the awesomeness, K-Bell!
