There were some truly amazing DNC speeches this year. Read on below for two of our faves.

lena dunham and america ferrera

Lena Dunham and America Ferrera are officially the talk of the town! The two actresses literally took down Trump piece by piece while building up the woman of the hour: Hillary! Both ladies told their personal stories and how they’ve been affected by Hillary’s politics.

America explained,

“As a child of Honduran immigrants, I am profoundly grateful for the access and opportunity that exists in this extraordinary nation. I was educated in public schools; my talents were nurtured through public arts programs and occasionally I needed a free meal to get through the school day.

Not everyone looks at the millions of young people like me – children born into struggling families, children born to immigrant parents, children who are immigrants themselves – and sees an investment. But Hillary has spent the last 30 years proving what she sees in us. Not our color, gender, or economic status, but our capacity to grow into thriving adults able to contribute great things to this country.”

Additionally, Lena spoke about how Trump would negatively impact her life:

“Donald and his party think I should be punished for exercising my constitutional rights, and his rhetoric about women takes us back to a time when we were meant to be beautiful and silent. Meanwhile, 22 years ago, Hillary declared that women’s rights are human rights. And she made it possible for my fellow sexual assault survivors in my home state of New York to have access to safe, immediate care in any emergency room. Hillary knows that access and opportunity are the American promise – not transphobia, Islamophobia, xenophobia, and systemic racism. She knows that hatred of all kinds is ours collectively to change, not to ignite for the craven purpose of seeking power.”

Both Lena and America spoke passionately about our future and made us proud to be pro-Hillary.

You can watch the entire speech below.

demi lovato

Demi Lovato gave an incredibly impassioned speech on the importance of mental health services at the Democratic National Convention. Yet, barely anyone is talking about it.

In addition to performing her hit Confident, Demi expressed both how mental health support has helped her personally and reminded everyone why it’s so important to get help for others.

“Like millions of Americans, I am living with mental illness. But I am lucky. I had the resources and support to get treatment at a top facility. Unfortunately, too many Americans from all walks of life don’t get help, whether they fear the stigma or cannot afford treatment.

Untreated mental illness can lead to devastating consequences including suicide, substance abuse and long-term medical issues. We can do better. Every one of us can make a difference by getting educated on this epidemic and its frightening statistics and by breaking the stigma.”

She also showed her support for Hillary of course, and gave her official endorsement.

“I stand here today as proof that you can live a normal and empowered life with mental illness. I’m proud to support a presidential candidate who will fight to ensure all people living with mental-health conditions get the care they need to lead fulfilling lives. That candidate is Hillary Clinton.”

We’re so proud that Demi had the chance to speak about the importance of mental illness services. And of course, that she was repping our girl Hils!
