Mary Poppins is back for the new film Mary Poppins Returns.
The musical gods have graced us with a new Mary Poppins flick, which includes none other than the Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack the lamplighter. Emily Blunt will be taking over Julie Andrews’ role of Mary Poppins.
Disney started production on the film last month and yesterday they released the first look of Blunt as Mary Poppins and today we got even luckier with our first picture Miranda!
The film takes place 20 years after the original and during London’s Great Depression. It also has a wonderful cast which includes, Meryl Streep as Mary Poppins’ cousin, and Colin Firth as William Weatherall Wilkins and the legendary Angela Lansbury as a balloon vendor.
This movie is looking like it’s going to be absolutely amazing and we cannot wait to see it!
Lin-Manuel Miranda has been quickly making the transition from stage to screen, with his recent song and lyrics for Disney film Moana. He’ll also appear in Speech & Debate, which has already completed filming.
Meanwhile, Emily Blunt just finished wrapping her voice-over for the My Little Pony movie and will also be voicing a character for Gnomeo &Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes, which is currently in production. Prior to that, she starred in The Girl on the Train, based on the book of the same title.
