And that’s how it’s done, people! In a recent interview, the media tried yet again to get Katy Perry to bad mouth fellow musician Taylor Swift and she was having none of it.
During an interview with EW about her new album, the magazine had the audacity to ask Perry if the new album had any response to the Swift’s single “Bad Blood,” which is reportedly about Perry. But Perry was not about to let the magazine pit her against Swift. Instead, she responded,
“I think [my new album is] a very empowered record. There is no one thing that’s calling out any one person.
One thing to note is: You can’t mistake kindness for weakness and don’t come for me. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. And that’s not to any one person and don’t quote me that it is, because it’s not. It’s not about that. Honestly, when women come together and they decide to unite, this world is going to be a better place. Period end of story.”
She did add that everything has a consequence, again, not directing her comments against anyone explicitly.
And all we can say is, well done! Whether or not Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have squabbled in the past is beyond the point. Perry just came out with a bomb-ass record and don’t try to turn the topic away from her work and onto some competition that may or may not exist. As Perry says, as soon as we stop pitting women against each other the sooner this world is going to be a way better place.
Katy Perry recently released “Bon Appetit” and it was perfection.
