You may not know her name yet, but ‘Melaniin Goddess’ and model Khoudia Diop is about to blow up.
The Instagram star, who is French-Senegalese, recently scored the #BlendInToStandOut campaign with Make Up For Ever. She told Bustle,
“I decided to work with Make Up For Ever on their #BlendInStandOut campaign because the brand and campaign represent diversity in an industry where not everyone is represented.”
Diop couldn’t be more on-point. Often times, even when Women of Color are included in beauty campaigns, they’re women with lighter skin tones or have been whitewashed by Photoshop for the final ad.
Growing up with darker skin is something Diop struggled with as well so she’s more than happy to finally represent girls like her.
“I wanted to be an inspiration for girls struggling with confidence about their skin color because I had negative feelings about my own complexion growing up, and didn’t want anyone to feel the same about themselves!”
“I’ve learned that beauty isn’t the definition of how you look or feel about yourself.”
Even though this is Diop’s big first campaign, she’s already a hug Instagram star with over 470K followers. She’s begun using her platform for good and recently started a crowdfunding campaign for her anti-bullying initiatives.
