Queens of comedy Mindy Kaling and Tina Fey are returning to NBC in two separate series that NBC has ordered pilots for.
Kaling will produce and write for an untitled comedy in which she will also guest- star. As Deadline reports, the show is about “Vince, a charismatic gym owner with no ambition who lives with his younger brother Michael, a gorgeous idiot. Their simple life of women and working out is put on hold when the teenage son of Vince is dropped off on their doorstep by Priya…one of his old high school flings”.
Kaling will be producing the show with Charlie Grandy, who also worked on The Mindy Project and The Office with her.
As for Fey, she’s producing a series called The Sackett Sisters, written by Luke Del Tredici, who worked on 30 Rock and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. According to Variety, the series is “about the Sackett family, which is reunited when two estranged sisters perform an act of public heroism and are forced to navigate the aftermath together”.
We don’t want to call it too early, but based on these cumulative track records, we smell hits!
