Confirmed: Mischa Barton was taken to a hospital early this morning after authorities responded to a disturbance call.
Barton, who was celebrating her birthday a day before, seemed fine according to a friend who was at the party. However, those close to Barton were worried for her safety Thursday after she started hanging over a wall screaming incoherent statements. A West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputy told E! News:
“She was making incoherent statements that made absolutely no sense and she was transported to the hospital.”
Once the authorities arrived Barton was voluntarily taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
Barton is well-known for her role as Marissa Cooper in the hit show The O.C., which she left early due to a mental breakdown back in 2009.
Barton opened up to People about her breakdown in which she was rushed to the hospital. Once there she tried to leave and even threatened suicide, which lead to her being held in a psych ward for over four days under California’s 5150 hold.
“It was a full-on breakdown. It was terrifying. Straight out of Girl, Interrupted. Story of my life.”
We hope Barton get the care and help she needs as well as a good recovery.
