We’ll be there, will you?
Samantha Bee has been roasting Trump for months, and now she will be hosting an event for it.
Each year, the White House Corespondents’ Association holds a scholarship dinner in which journalists and the President/VP come together for a roast of the Administration. It typically features a celebrity featured speaker. Trump’s not-so-silent criticism of the press and A-list celebrities’ support of Clinton raises questions of how, and if, the dinner will go down this year.
Regardless, our fave Samantha Bee doesn’t care. According to the New York Times, she is hosting her own dinner, called “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” (seems fitting). It will be hosted on the same night at the Willard Hotel in Washington D.C.
Most of the details are still in the works, so it’s not known who will be performing, what exactly will be discussed, and if/where it will be aired.
In a prepared statement, Samantha Bee explained, “The evening is sure to bring plenty of surprises, music, food, and laughter—and if you’re not careful you just might learn something…specifically, you’ll learn how screwed we’d be without a free press.”
We’ve got our marshmallows ready for this roast.
