Selena Gomez just dropped her new single with Kygo, “It Ain’t Me” and it is awesome! If you haven’t heard it yet, go listen ASAP.
And if you were listening carefully you may have noticed that the lyrics, which were co-written by Gomez herself, are sending very big message to her ex Justin Bieber. The song is about a love Gomez had when she was 17 (which is the age she was when she started dating Bieber) and how things start to go terribly wrong.
“Somewhere along the lines
We stopped seeing eye to eye
You were staying out all night
And I had enough”
She also adds that when “I know I won’t be home/ And you’ll be on your own.” Ouch!
The chorus itself is where Sel tells Biebs it’s over for good, point-blank:
“Who’s gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
Who’s gonna rock you when the sun won’t let you sleep?
Who’s waking up to drive you home when you’re drunk and all alone?
Who’s gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
It ain’t me”
BURN! You tell ‘em, Selena!
Sel casually dropped the news of the single the other via Twitter by writing, “ItAintMe. Thursday. #KygoMusic.”
We are so pumped! No word on exactly what time “It Ain’t Me” will drop but if Selena has any heart at all she’ll release the new song at midnight so we don’t have to wait!
The singer has already had a big year so far, what with the release of new music as well as her Netflix show 13 Reasons Why.
