It’s no secret that we absolutely adore Selena Gomez.
And so do her fans and everyone she works with. In fact, these are the major topics hit upon in her new Vogue cover story. In the piece, Gomez opens up about everything from cheesy potatoes to her time in the spotlight.
We know you’ll read the piece in its entirety, but here are the 5 biggest takeaways to hold you over.
1. Everyone she works with admires her.
From producer Donna Gigliotti to actor Paul Rudd to Coach’s creative director Stuart Vevers and beyond, people can see the true Selena and admire who she is and how she carries herself.
Gigliotti described Gomez as authentic, generous, and “kick-ass”.
2. She’s her true self
With Selena, what you see is what you get.
“People so badly wanted me to be authentic, and when that happened, finally, it was a huge release. I’m not different from what I put out there. I’ve been very vulnerable with my fans, and sometimes I say things I shouldn’t. But I have to be honest with them. I feel that’s a huge part of why I’m where I am.”
3. She’s expanding her work portfolio.
While known primarily for her acting and singing, Gomez is actually distancing herself from those fields and jumping into new ones. She’s working on a line with Coach, producing a Netflix miniseries, and re-learning Spanish.
4. She’s laying low.
Selena hasn’t been posting much on Instagram anymore, as you may have already noticed. The news of being the most-followed person on the social media app overwhelmed her and was distancing her from who she wanted to be. She has since deleted the app from her phone, and her assistant is the only person who knows her password.
She’s actually staying away from technology as much as she can, in general.
“I think seventeen people have my phone number right now. Maybe two are famous.”
5. She wants out of the limelight.
Somewhat related to takeaway #4, staying out of the limelight is actually what Selena wants. As an advocate for authenticity and also of mental health, Gomez is more than happy living a normal life. In fact, when asked about her now famous and well-known relationship with The Weeknd, Gomez replied, “I love what I do, and I’m aware of how lucky I am, but—how can I say this without sounding weird? I just really can’t wait for people to forget about me.”
It might be hard to forget about Selena entirely, but we think we should all do our best to respect her wishes for a low-key and authentic lifestyle.
