The Hills have officially returned with the reboot dubbed “New Beginnings” and things have definitely changed since the original series went off the air in 2010. Well, at least they have Audrina Patridge.
In the nine years since The Hills originally wrapped, Audrina got married, had a baby, and got divorced.
Audrina married her Aussie boyfriend Corey Bohan after the two got pregnant. In the first episode of the series, she told fellow cast member Stephanie Pratt,
“It was trying to do ‘the right thing’ which now I know is not ‘the right thing.'”
After 10 months of marriage, Audrina had to file a restraining order against Corey as she feared for her and her 3-year-old daughter Kirra’s safety.
But it took a lot of courage before Audrina felt confident enough to leave Corey. Talking with Stephanie, she said,
“When I started dating my ex, I shut everyone out. I cut off off a lot of friendship and I cut off a lot of opportunities all for this guy that treated me like shit. And I was so numb and isolated and so depressed, I lost over 20 lbs. Like I felt stuck. I felt trapped. I felt like I had no one else. I had to make this work.”
According to the restraining order, Audrina described several times in which Corey was extremely erratic and aggressive.
In one incident, Audrina said,
“[Corey] started punching and hitting himself on the head. Then he punched a hole in our bedroom door. I was very frightened and started screaming and covered Kirra’s eyes and ears, but she started crying and screaming.”
Other incidents included Corey threatening Audrina and swearing in front of their daughter.
After a messy divorce, the papers were finalized in December of last year. But Audrina is still very much recovering.
In one of her confessionals, Audrina got emotional and said,
“I never imagined I would ever be divorced and be a single mom at 33 with a little girl. God, I never imagined that. It’s still hard to grasp.”
You can watch Audrina’s journey on The Hills: New Beginnings on MTV on Mondays.
