By now, you’ve most likely read about the argument between Zayn Malik and Yolanda Hadid, aka his daughter Khai’s grandmother.
But while most news outlets have reported on Zayn’s harassment of Yolanda, many refuse to call it by its name: assault.
If the reports are correct, then Zayn physically and verbally assaulted Yolanda. Period.
According to paperwork obtained by Vulture, Zayn yelled “lewd, lascivious, threatening or obscene words” at Yolanda and cursed her out before grabbing and hitting her.
He also verbally attacked Gigi after the incident and told her to “strap on some fucking balls and defend your partner against your fucking mother in my house.”

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly confirmed that Zayn pushed Yolanda into a dresser and called her a “f-cking Dutch slut.”
Zayn has since been charged with four counts of harassment, to which he pleaded “no contest.” He has received 90 days probation and has been sentenced to anger management courses.
Zayn has since denied the charges and alleges that he only pleaded “no contest” in order to protect his 13-month-old daughter Khai.
In a statement to TMZ, he said,
“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
Reports also indicate that Gigi and Zayn have broken up as a result of the argument. Friends claim that the relationship had been “toxic” for a while.
Gigi’s rep has responded to the rumors and told People,
“Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”

A friend of Zayn’s claims that the fight began when Yolanda came over to their house uninvited. The unidentified friend told People,
“[Yolanda] came over uninvited while Gigi was away for work and he was taking care of Khai … That led to an argument.”
Since news of the altercation broke, Zayn has also reportedly been dropped by his label RCA Records.
Gigi and Zayn were first linked together back in November 2015 but didn’t go Instagram official until December 2015. The couple has had an on-again-off-again relationship since then, most recently getting back together in January 2020.
The couple shares a 13-month-old daughter named Khai, who was born in September 2020. The pair recently celebrated Khai’s first birthday at their NYC home with balloons, a ball pit, and a Buddy Valastro cake.
