Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale recently made some unsavory comments on Instagram and people were seriously mad.
After posting a throwback pic of her and her father on Instagram, Hale commented “ugh I was so fat,” despite the fact that she was/is clearly far from it. This obviously angered a lot of her fans as the comment was insensitive, inaccurate, and didn’t provide a great role model for her younger fans.
But listen, Lucy totally gets it. As soon as the backlash began, the PLL star disabled the comments on the Instagram pic and then posted on Twitter:
Sometimes I forget that people are watching everything I do and I say things I don’t mean. I’m extremely sorry if my comment about my weight

Offended anyone. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. I know people look up to me and I should be way more aware of what I say sometimes

We have to say, we really appreciate her honesty and her ability to say “I was wrong.” (Something few others seem able to do, ahem, Kim Kardashian). Look, nobody is perfect and it’s become a societal norm to say “I look so fat” even when we know we don’t and to think Lucy is immune would be absurd. And we can’t imagine what it would be like if literally everything we said was analyzed and thrown in our faces. Well handled, Lucy.
