For years, the fashion industry ignored a huge group of consumers: modest dressers.
Brands ignorantly believed modest dressers weren’t interested in fashion, a foolish and wrong assumption. Vogue Business found that, with more than 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide, the modest fashion industry is currently valued at $277B.
But all of this is finally starting to change. Brands like H&M, Zara, and more are starting to integrate trendy, modest pieces into their collections, providing more affordable options than ever.
Luxury brands are also slowly starting to cater to the modest consumer with brands like Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana introducing hijabs and head coverings into their offerings. Others have started including hijab models in their runway shows.
But while you can now turn to fast fashion brands for the occasional piece, there are actually several small, independent clothing brands that are creating fashionable clothing items specifically for modest dressers.
The best part is that several of these brands were created by Muslim designers so buying from them is also a great way to support and invest in the community.
Below, check out some of our favorite brands that are breaking barriers and changing the way we think about modest fashion.
