It’s probably fair to say that Serena Williams is not your typical pregnant woman. She won a grand slam while pregnant, first of all, and hasn’t done much in way of preparation since.
According to a new interview with Vanity Fair, Williams was completely shocked by the pregnancy and even took 6 home tests just to convince herself. She said,
“If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby, not be pregnant but have a baby, I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world. This is kind of how I am right now. This is happening sooner than later, and it’s going by so fast.”
She’s pretty much continued her crazy schedule since learning the news: she still works out like crazy and is preparing to launch her own fashion website. So there’s no way she even has time to think about preparing the baby’s room.
“I don’t know what to do with a baby. I have nothing… I’ve done absolutely nothing for the baby room.”
And despite being 6 months pregnant, Serena still seems a little bit in shock about the reality of the situation.
“It just doesn’t seem real. I don’t know why. Am I having a baby?”
LOL! We totally respect Serena’s honesty. Not everyone’s pregnancy story has to be the same. It doesn’t have to be this magical fairytale that the media makes it out to be. Serena is a motivated, ambitious woman. And no baby is going to change that.
