With so many amazing gems on Netflix, it can actually (and annoyingly) be difficult to find something to watch.
Luckily, I’ve got you covered. As someone who has watched way too many TV shows, I know all the best ones you’ve never watched — and even a few you’ve never heard of. Most of the popular TV shows and serials you can find on Netflix.
So if you’re looking for something to binge, check out my list below of the best mystery series and mini-series on Netflix.
1. ‘The Woods’
25 years after four teens — including his sister — mysteriously go missing one night during summer camp, Paweł tries to finally find out the truth about what went down that night.
The six-episode mini-series is a Polish adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel so you know it’s based on solid material (more Harlan Coben Netflix series here).
This one you might have heard of — and for good reason! The show garnered a worldwide cult following in its short span of three seasons.
The plot is a bit difficult to describe without giving too much away but let’s just say the German series kicks off when two children go missing in a small town. When it starts to feel like history is repeating itself, everyone takes it upon themselves to figure out what the hell is going on.
The only spoiler I can give is that the show takes place across three time periods. Things get pretty complicated after season one so you’ll need to give the show your undivided attention (and possibly create a flow chart as well).
The entire series is three seasons (which was planned by the showrunners from the start).
3. ‘Blood & Water’
17 years after her sister goes missing, Puleng is convinced that she’s found her when she meets a popular, charming girl at a party. Puleng becomes obsessed with discovering the truth. Is Fiks really her long-lost sister or is it all in Puleng’s head?
This one is less of a thriller than some of the others on the list but no less intriguing.
So far, there have been two seasons of the show and season 3 has officially been confirmed.
Bonus: The amazing soundtrack features several South African artists including female rapper Sho Madjozi.
This British series starts out with what appears to be a random killing of a pizza delivery man. But it soon becomes clear that there is so much more to the crime including illegal immigrants and a possible drug ring.
Oh yeah, and it stars the brilliant Carrie Mulligan. Enough said.
Another Harlan Coben series on the list is Safe starring Dexter‘s Michael C. Hall. The premise is simple: a teenage girl goes missing after a party and her father does everything he can to track her down. But when her boyfriend shows up dead, he realizes he’s in way over his head.
This mini-series isn’t the most creative on the list but it’s definitely entertaining if you’re in the mood for an easy binge.
25 years after his father was framed and killed for a crime he didn’t commit, Assane Diop decides to finally get some answers — and set things right.
In order to do this, Assane adopts the persona of Arsène Lupin, a gentleman thief (and a classic French literary character). Can Assane pull off a series of crazy heists in order to get to the truth of what really happened 25 years ago? Only time will tell.
Lupin already has two seasons ready to stream with a third season on the way.
7. ‘Who Killed Sara?’
After being convinced by a wealthy family to take the fall for his sister’s murder, Alex Guzman is ready to find some answers and get revenge on the wealthy family that framed him. But not everyone is ready for the truth to come out.
The series is three seasons long but it’s the first season that really stands out. It’s all a bit downhill from there. We recommend that you treat season 1 like a mini-series and call it a day after that.
Nick Brewer is seemingly the perfect man, father, and husband. But when he’s kidnapped, a viral video starts circulating that alleges he’s done horrible things. And as revenge? Nick will be killed if the video is viewed 5 million times. His sister Pia must find Nick — and answers — before the view count gets too high.
Clickbait stars Adrian Grenier (Entourage), Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick), and Betty Gabriel (Get Out).
In this British series, a recently-divorced detective must focus on finding a serial killer while also dealing with her own mysterious blackouts, increasing mental health issues, and a traumatic past that she’s not quite ready to face.
Marcella currently has three seasons. Whether there will be a season 4 or even possibly a spin-off is still up in the air.
