A few weeks ago, news spread that Mindy Kaling was pregnant with her first child. A few friends confirmed the news, but the actress herself hadn’t spoken up about the pregnancy, until now.
In a new interview with Sunday Today with Willie Geist, Kaling opens up publicly about the pregnancy for the first time.
Kaling is excited about the journey ahead and said,
“It’s so unknown to me. I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s out of my hands,’ which is kind of a fun feeling.”
She also discusses the influence she will draw from her own mother, who sadly passed away in 2012. Kaling explained,
“My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did. My career choice was not something that she was familiar with and she was just so supportive of that. And if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I’d be so happy.”
Mindy adds her signature humor when it comes to other things she’s excited to experience as a parent. She jokes,
“It’s so easy to criticize parenting until you’re a parent, so one of the nice things about becoming a parent is that I’ll be able to openly criticize other parenting because I will have a child.”
LOL.
We are so excited for Mindy and can’t wait to see her as a mother. The baby daddy’s identity is still unknown and it seems like she’ll keep that information to herself for a while.
The full interview airs on September 10th.
