Anyone dealing with eczema, psoriasis, or seborrhea dermatitis (me!) knows that the summers can be just as brutal as the winters.

Ever since I got my dermatitis to a somewhat manageable level (with the help of a dermatologist), I’ve pretty much been living on over-the-counter hydrocortisone for flare-ups. It helped with the itchiness but not the redness. Not to mention it smells like Vagisil (which, ingredient-wise, isn’t too far off).

But in the last month or so, my limbs, in particular, have been flaring up like crazy, which is not particularly cute when you’re trying to pull off a skater dress to work.

So I went to CVS (aka my version of Mecca) and decided to go for something new: Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream.

Real talk: Aveeno has completely changed the game, folks. It’s a silky creme with 1% colloidal oatmeal that you can use anywhere. Plus, it’s odorless, which is a big step up. And it’s super gentle on your skin, so if you’re sensitive, this could be a good option for you.

Full disclosure: I use a crap ton of this lotion per day. It’s become a twice a day need where I slather it all over my legs, inner thighs (chafing is no joke), arms, and ears. I went through my first bottle in about 3-4 weeks.

But honestly, it was so worth it. My red patches are gone and the itchiness is under control.

If you’re looking for a full-on cure to your skin woes, this is definitely not it (sorry, babe, but I don’t think these things are actually curable). And if you’re looking for the strong stuff you’re going to have to hit up your derm.

But if you have light-to-manageable skin troubles, this is the perfect way to skip the trip to the doc and the $40 copay (um, yes please!).

Anyone with eczema, psoriasis, or any form of dermatitis knows that it’s a life-long battle. But if a $16 bottle of lotion can make my life even a *little* bit easier, then sign me up.
