‘Bachelorette’ Rachel and Bryan Respond to Constant Social Media Hate

Let’s be real: Bryan Abasolo was not the fan favorite last season on The Bachelorette.

Fans pretty much threw a hissy on social media when Rachel Lindsay chose Bryan over Peter and then even Peter Kraus, the runner-up, said they would have “a mediocre life” together. Ouch.

But even months after the season ended, the couple is still receiving flack from haters (and even past contestants) non-stop.

Rachel and Bryan recently stopped by Dean Unglert‘s new podcast to chat and Rachel admitted,

“I’m, believe it or not, very private normally with my relationships, so to be so public and honest about the relationship, and then…to be attacked on social media, [and] sometimes in the media, it was really hard.”

She then added,

“But I think, for us, how we got through it, was just being honest with how it affected us… For us, it was like, ‘If we can get through this, then we can get through anything.’ Because it was a lot.”

The couple is still together (as of today), to which Bryan credits their “maturity levels.”

We all know that The Bachelor franchise heavily edits their footage to throw off viewers. So for all we know, the two had amazing chemistry right off the bat and it was never truly a contest (which is what Rachel says happened).

Of course, 99.9% of Bachelor couples eventually break up so they might be fighting a losing battle. But whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?
