If we had any sliver of respect left for Chris Rock, we’ve definitely lost it now.
Chris is currently on his Ego Death world tour, where he is enjoying sold-out shows thanks to The Slap Heard ‘Round the World (ticket sales soared after the Will Smith slap).
Chris has been using the tour as an opportunity to joke about the slap — which is his prerogative — but it’s another one of his jokes that has us in disgust.
According to Lad Bible, Chris recently took to the stage in London to mock Amber Heard. He said,
“Believe all women, believe all women… except Amber Heard… What the f**k is she on? She s**t in his bed! She’s fine but she’s not s******g fine.”
He continued,
“She s**t in his bed. Once you s**t in someone’s bed you just guilty of everything. She s**t in his bed. What the f**k is going on there? Wow. And they had a relationship after that. It must be amazing p***y… I’ve been with some crazy b*****s but goddammit.”
The incident that Chris is referring to is the now-notorious “poop in the bed” story that Johnny Depp relayed while on the stand for his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber.
Johnny told the jury that he planned to visit his home to pick up a few things while Amber was out of town. However, his security guard stopped him and showed him a picture of what appeared to be human feces in the couple’s bed that Amber had presumably left.
Johnny said on the stand,
“My initial response to that was, I mean… I laughed. It was so outside. It was so bizarre and so grotesque that I could only laugh.”
A chauffeur and security guard for Johnny later testified that Amber called the incident “a horrible practical joke gone wrong.”
Despite the fact that the majority of the testimony from both Johnny and Amber has been about horrible instances of domestic abuse, the public has grabbed on to the “poop story,” taking delight in it. Memes, TikTok videos, and tweets have flooded the internet as fans relish in the couple’s misery. SNL even performed a skit mocking the incident this past weekend.
While Chris Rock, SNL, and social media may find this funny, to joke that Amber Heard is not to be believed as a victim of domestic abuse is crossing the line.
Because although the majority of the trial has been a “he said she said”, one thing is clear: the relationship between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was toxic and violent. And while the internet has already deemed Amber to be the villain of the story, that doesn’t give anyone a free pass to make light of the abuse at hand.
After taking a brief hiatus last week, the trial is set to return on Monday. Amber will resume her testimony before being cross-examined by Johnny’s lawyers. Amber’s sister Whitney Henriquez and Johnny’s ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin are also expected to take the stand. Amber’s lawyers may call Johnny back to the stand as well.
