Despite the fact that many innovative alternatives are available, many beauty companies continue to test their products on bunnies, guinea pigs, rats, cats, and dogs.
Not only can these tests be extremely painful, but they can also be downright lethal.
And even if the tests don’t kill the animals, they’re usually killed by the labs anyways. According to The Humane Society, animals are often killed by asphyxiation, decapitation, or even neck-wringing.
Sadly, many of these animals never get to see sunlight or even get to touch grass. They live and die in the lab.
And this is no small business, either. Every year, 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poised, and/or abused in the U.S. alone. 500,000 of those animals are used in cosmetics testing alone.
And while over 40 countries have banned animal testing in the cosmetics industry, the United States continues to allow it, often with few regulations.
So, it’s time to ditch animal-tested makeup and go cruelty-free.
