They said they’d never last. But 26 years and four kids later, David and Victoria Beckham are stronger than ever.
The couple began dating in 1997, but David Beckham said he knew he wanted to marry Victoria even before they’d met. In a 2008 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, he proclaimed,
“I was in a hotel room with my best friend, who was my best man at my wedding. I remember turning around — before I’d even met Victoria — and said, ‘I want to marry that one.'”
The two officially met in 1997 at one of David’s football matches. A year later, they were engaged and in July 1999 the couple married.
Over the years, the pair has established themselves as one of the most fashionable celebrity couples. In the 90s and early aughts, David and Victoria Beckham rocked every trend imaginable. They even wore coordinated looks on several occasions.
But nowadays, the pair stick to the classics. David and Victoria have become known for their tailored, sophisticated aesthetic.
In honor of the new Netflix documentary Beckham, let’s take a walk down memory road and relive some of David and Victoria’s most iconic fashion moments as a couple.

January 1998, David and Victoria Announce Their Engagement
The couple invited the press to their hotel in England where they announced their engagement. Victoria, aka Posh Spice, showed off her 3 carat diamond solitaire ring. David and Victoria matched in black coats and posed for the photo op.
February 1998, Valentine’s Dinner
David and Victoria celebrated their first Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. David wore an oversized grey suit and Victoria rocked a metallic purple suit with an exposed black bra underneath.
July 1999, The Day Before Their Wedding
David and Victoria stopped by Victoria’s parents house the day before flying to Ireland for their wedding. The two twinned in leather with Victoria wearing a leather skirt and David leather pants.

The couple had an extremely discreet wedding in Ireland where Victoria wore a Vera Wang Strapless Gown with an 18 karat tiara. David matched in a white suit.
Afterwards, David and Victoria changed into matching purple looks with floral appliques to the reception. Their son Brooklyn Beckham also wore an adorable purple outfit to match with the couple.
December 1999, Versace’s Millennium New Year’s Eve Party
Back in the day, David and Victoria Beckham were all about the matching outfits! The couple wore matching leather outfits to Versace’s NYE party in 1999 — a look they both later regretted.
In 2012, David admitted to H&M magazine,
“That’s one when I look back and am like, ‘What were we thinking?’”
Victoria reiterated the sentiment during her 2022 WWHL appearance where she told Andy Cohen,
“I mean, it haunts me. It does haunt me, but I love it. It was hot. We were wearing Gucci. It was a Versace dinner, which is inappropriate in itself.”
She added,
“We really thought about it. There was a naiveté to it that was just so sweet.”
We don’t care what either David or Victoria says — this look is definitely one for the books.

David and Victoria Beckham matched in white Dolce & Gabbana looks with Victoria wearing a lace-up gown and David wearing a suit.
Victoria’s dress may be back on-trend these days, but we’re pretty sure she’s cringing in hindsight. Luckily, she’ll never have to look at the dress again as it was sold at auction in 2014. But the pictures? Well, those are forever. Sorry, Victoria.
July 2007, ‘Welcome to America’ Party
David and Victoria looked sharp at their ‘Welcome to America’ party hosted by Tom Cruise and then-wife Katie Holmes. Victoria wore a a black bustier satin mini dress while David went with a grey plaid suit.
September 2008, The Launch of Beckham Signature Fragrance
The Beckham’s celebrated the launch of their fragrance at the Macy’s in Herald Square looking incredibly chic. David wore Tom Ford while Victoria wore Antonio Berardi.
February 2012, Vanity Fair Oscar Party
The Beckhams looked dapper on the Vanity Fair Oscar Party Red Carpet. David wore a Christian Dior Black Tuxedo and Victoria wore a grey strapless gown from her namesake brand, which she founded in 2008.
July 2020, At Their Cotswolds Mansion
David and Victoria Beckham gave rich English countryside vibes while visiting their home in Cotswolds. David went for a hat, wool jacket, and a walking stick while Victoria chose a khaki shirt jacket and jeans.
October 2023, ‘Beckham’ Premiere
David and Victoria Beckham looked incredibly chic on the red carpet for the premiere of the Netflix documentary Beckham. Victoria wore a clean white suit while David opted for a black one.
