Dwyane Wade On Supporting His Son At Pride: 'I'm Just Doing What Any Father Would Do'

Back in April, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union took Dwayne’s son Zion to Miami Pride and the internet pretty much went crazy.

Fans were so impressed that Dwyane was so supportive of his son. But for Dwyane, the whole thing seemed like no big deal.

Speaking with Variety, he explained,

“This is my job as a father, and I’m very uneasy about accolades that come from supporting my kids or obviously the negativity that comes with it. I’m doing what every parent should do.”

He added,

“It’s my job to be their role model, to be their voice in my kids’ lives and let them know you can conquer the world, and you have the support of your father. You have the support of your family every step of the way. So go be your amazing self and we’re going to sit back and love you and support you along the way.”

Well, Dwyane may think it’s NBD, but any time a parent lets their child be their true self is cause for celebration in my book.

Keep doing what you’re doing, Dwyane!
