In the last few months, Senator Elizabeth Warren has come to play an important part in the Resistance. After refusing to back down during Jeff Sessions’ confirmation hearing, she spurred Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to utter the phrase “nevertheless, she persisted,” sparking a hashtag and a movement.
Now she says that McConnell is too embarrassed to make eye contact with her, or even acknowledge her presence.
The Massachusetts Senator recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where they discussed her relationship with the Republicans.
Fallon starts off by asking her,
“Is it true? I heard that Mitch McConnell won’t make eye contact with you. Is that real?”
Warren responds, “Yeah” and joked that perhaps he’s just “the quiet type.”
She added that even in the hallway, she’ll say “hi,” but he won’t reply. Um, rude!
Despite receiving considerable backlash from the Senate Republicans, Warren says it’s now more important than ever that they stand up to the Trump administration.
“We cannot lay down and play dead. We’ve got to be in this fight.”
Elizabeth Warren has just released her 11th book, which echoes the same sentiments. It’s called This Fight is Our Fight and discusses her opinions on corporations, the Republicans, and how the Democrats failed in 2016.
