It’s finally here! At long last, Emilia Perez has landed on Netflix.
The movie musical — which stars Karla Sofia Gascón, Selena Gomez, and Zoe Saldana — first premiered at the Cannes at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where it received an 11-minute standing ovation and won two awards. It would go on to win 15 more awards while on the film festival circuit.
The French film follows cartel leader Emilia Perez (Gascón) who decides to finally fulfill her dream of transitioning into a woman. But in order to do so, she must enlist the help of lawyer Rita Mora Castro (Saldana).
Gomez plays Jessi Del Monte, Emilia Perez’s wife from her previous life, who’s forced to relocate with her kids to Switzerland for their safety.
