Ezra Miller has been no stranger to controversy these past few years. It seems as if they can’t keep their name out of the headlines. In the last two years, the actor has been accused of abuse, grooming, and even starting a cult.
It’s all a lot to keep track of and with stories overlapping, it’s almost impossible to know where to start to even wrap your head around these incidents. Miller is such a talented actor, appearing in the Fantastic Beasts series, and was even cast as Barry Allen/The Flash in the DC Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, their behavior has overshadowed the roles they were cast and now Miller has become infamous for their terrifying behavior.
April 1, 2020: A Video of Miller Choking a Fan Goes Viral
Miller is at a bar they frequent, Prikið Kaffihúsan, in Iceland when a couple of fans come in. The fans are excited to see Miller, who they confront and seem to be having a good time with. Later on, Miller asks if they want to fight and then proceeds to choke a female fan. The initial incident is posted on Reddit, then goes viral on Twitter.
March 19, 2022: Miller Is Arrested For Obstruction of Justice
Miller is arrested for obstruction of justice for blocking a sidewalk in downtown Hilo, Hawaii.
March 28, 2022: Miller Attacks Patrons at a Karaoke Bar
Miller is at a karaoke bar in Hawaii when they begin verbally attacking patrons. According to sources, one such patron was singing a Lady Gaga song, which apparently upset Miller. In their anger, the actor shouted obscenities at the singers and even lunged at a man playing darts. Ezra was arrested for disorderly conduct with a bail of $500, which they posted.
March 29, 2022: Miller Is Given a Restraining Order
A couple from Hilo, Hawaii files a temporary restraining order against Miller. According to court documents, the actor burst into a bedroom and threatened the couple. Miller is quoted as saying “I will bury you and your slut wife”. The couple also alleges that Miller stole personal belongings. The order is later dropped.
April 19, 2022: Miller is Arrested For Second-Degree Assault
Miller is arrested for reportedly throwing a chair at a woman in someone’s home in Puna, Hawaii after being asked to leave. Their victim had a half-inch cut on their forehead that they refused treatment for.
June 10, 2022: Miller is Accused of Grooming a Teen

A couple from North Dakota alleges that Miller is grooming their 18-year-old child Takota Iron Eyes. They petition the Standing Rock Trial for a protective order on behalf of Takota. In the court documents, the couple alleges that Miller is “psychologically manipulating, physically intimidating, and endangering the safety and welfare of Tokata Iron Eyes.”
In an Instagram video, Takota denies these allegations and claims that Miller is protecting them from an abusive situation.
June 15, 2022: More Allegations of Grooming Surface
A mother in Massachusetts is granted a temporary harassment prevention order against Miller on behalf of her 12-year-old non-binary child, who she claims was being groomed by the actor. According to the mother, Miller appeared on her premises and began verbally attacking her and her neighbor. Miller was wearing a bulletproof vest and threatened the neighbor at one point.
According to court documents, the child said,
“They automatically were just weirdly drawn to me and kept talking about how they love my outfit and love my style, and kept going on and on about how it was great. It was really uncomfortable. I was really nervous. I was scared to be around them after they’d yelled at my mother and she was crying.”
June 23, 2022: Miller is Accused of Housing Young Children on Unsafe Premises
Information comes out that Miller is housing a 25-year-old mother and three children on a gun-filled farm in Vermont. It’s reported that a one-year-old child living on the property put a bullet in her mouth. The mother claims to be escaping from an abusive situation. The father claims that he is worried about the safety of his children.
June 30, 2022: A German Woman Alleges That Miller Verbally Attacked Her in Her Home
Seven days later, a German woman named Nadia details her choice to file a criminal complaint against Ezra Miller. Nadia asks Miller not to smoke in her house when Miller allegedly explodes. Miller calls her transphobic, a Nazi, and several additional names.
August 5, 2022: Rumors of a Cult Emerge
Rumors surface about Miller running a cult in Iceland back in 2020. According to an exposé in Insider, Miller rented an Airbnb in Reykjavík, which was described as similar to “a commune”. Miller allegedly gave monologues on spirituality to the group and had several emotional outbursts.
August 15, 2022: Miller Goes to Get Treatment
Miller releases a statement that they are going into treatment. They claim to realize they have untreated mental health issues and are in treatment for the foreseeable future. In their statement, they issue an apology to anyone that they hurt, stating they are committed to getting healthy.
