Forget Ballet Flats — Ballet Pumps Are Where It's At

The Fashion World has officially declared the return of the ballet flat.

But for those of us who are old enough to remember the last time ballet flats filled our closets, we’re still healing from the many, many blisters that plagued our heels and big toes.

Fortunately, ballet flats have gotten a bit of an upgrade this season in the form of ballet pumps.

We know, we know. The word “pumps” doesn’t exactly evoke feelings of comfort. But hear us out.

Most of the ballet pumps this season feature a low, chunky block heel under 2″ and provide at least some sort of arch support (unlike ballet flats). The brand VIVAIA, for example, actually puts a premium on comfort and they have thousands of positive reviews to prove it.

And we’re not the only ones in love with the style. Sofia Richie Granger has routinely been spotted wearing Chanel Cap Toe Slingbacks (although we personally prefer these affordable dupes) and Selena Gomez is a fan of VIVAIA’s Round Toe Chunky Heels.

While many ballet pumps on the market play into the quiet luxury trend that so many are enamored with, other styles are making the rounds as well.

Brands like Veronica Beard, Repetto, Zimmermann, and Tory Burch have embraced the classic bow-adorned, round-toe ballet style. Others like Reformation, Stuart Weitzman, and Madewell have offered up their takes on the Mary Jane.
