Our hearts were broken in two when we heard that Slumdog Millionaire costars and real-life couple Freida Pinto and Dev Patel had split. But luckily the two are still on good terms, or so says Pinto.
Speaking with Red magazine, she dished on how proud she was of Patel for his Oscar nomination for Lion.
“How could I not feel proud? He was fantastic in the film. At the end of the day, he’s a fellow actor and my friend.”
She even showed her love for Dev on Instagram, with a special post dedicated to the actor.
The couple broke up back in 2014 when Pinto says she had a “midlife crises.”
“I have never believed in not being on good terms with anyone I’ve dated. It’s pointless. People come and go and everyone teaches you something. You need to embrace the good and bad, the ugly and beautiful. I’m not a love guru. I don’t have tips on how to keep a break-up friendly. Just be open and honest.”
Freida is currently starring in the Showtime miniseries Guerilla where she plays a revolutionary taking on white-nationalists in 1970s London. Timely? Yeah, we think so too.
Pinto has received rave reviews across the board for her role.
