'Game of Thrones': All the News You Missed This Week

So much news, so little time!

The Game of Thrones cast has been giving tons of interviews recently and I, for one, am totally eating it up! It’s a little hard to keep track of all the juicy nuggets the actors have been dropping, so to help you out, here’s everything you might have missed.

Peter Dinklage Says ‘GOT’ is Ending at the Perfect Time

Peter Dinklage recently appeared at the Sundance Film Festival to promote his new film I Think We’re Alone Now, and naturally, he was asked about the end of Game of Thrones. He said,

“It’s time. Storywise, not just for all our lives. It’s the perfect time to end it. Sometimes shows stay on a little too long, the jumping-the-shark thing.”

He added,

“It’s bittersweet when it’s time to move on with everything. It’s always the sad part of our business because you get pockets of great people for short amounts of time and then you have to move on and it’s always heartbreaking. Especially when you’ve spent more than a couple months with people.”

Maisie Williams is Preparing for Life Post-Thrones

With Game of Thrones ending soon(ish), Maisie Williams is already starting to think about what her career will look like after she’s done playing Arya. She told Irish Times,

“It’s only now I’m starting to realize the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren’t available to me. It’s a very shallow industry. And I don’t look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualized. Don’t get me wrong, I’m completely in awe of Hollywood’s leading ladies. I love looking at those totally jaw-droppingly beautiful women. But I think it’s sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful on screen.”

Maisie Has Already Announced She’ll Be One of Sophi Turner’s Bridesmaids

As if we had any doubt! Luckily, Maisie has confirmed the news herself, that she’ll be a part of Sophie Turner’s wedding party when she marries fiance, Joe Jonas. Considering what good friends Maisie and Sophie are, this should shock nobody.

No word yet on when the event will take place, but I’m personally hoping for a summer wedding! #Mophie forever!

Jason Momoa Couldn’t Get Work Post GOT

Poor, Jason! The Drogo actor recently appeared on the Tonight Show where he said he couldn’t land roles after Game of Thrones. Apparently, his acting was so convincing on GOT that nobody in the industry thought he spoke English!

“It was heartbreaking. I was like: ‘That’s why I’m not getting any jobs’!”

You May or May Not Hate the Series Finale

Maisie recently chatted with Radio Times and admitted,

“It’s either going to be everything that everyone dreamed of, or it’s gonna be disappointing. It depends on which side of the fence you’re going to sit on. I think no matter what you do there’s definitely going to be that divide. It depends on what people want from the final season. I love it, but I don’t know. You never know.”

Uh, that is not particularly reassuring…

The Royal Mail GOT Stamps are Here!

The Royal Mail has officially released their new batch of stamps featuring Arya Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Daenerys, Jon Snow and more. Some of the cast took time to pose with giant versions of the stamps and it was pretty freaking cute.

The First Scenes of Game of Thrones Season 8 Are Being Filmed at Winterfell

According to some super sleuthing, it appears that the first scenes are being shot on the set of Winterfell! Earlier this week, the camera crew was spotted in Moneyglass, Ireland (aka where they film Winterfell), and Jon Snow arrived just the other day. Of course, they don’t always shoot scenes in order, but it definitely seems like there might be some Winterfell action early on in season 8.

Unfortunately for us, Game of Thrones season 8 isn’t set to premiere until 2019. According to the boss, the show needs time for all the extra fight scenes, special effects, and more. And as for the alleged game of Thrones spinoff? That will have to wait too.

“There’s not going to be anything on our air for a least a year after Game of Thrones airs. We’re not using the final season to launch a new show or anything like that. There’s going to be a separation between the two. These are among the best writers working and I’m hopeful.”
