Why ‘Gilmore Girls’ is Most Likely Done Forever (For Real This Time)

The brains behind Gilmore Girls and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life might be a little too busy to bring us a second season.

Television genius couple Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, who created Lorelai and Rory (honestly pop culture icons) signed a multi-year deal with Amazon. That basically means they’ll be creating and developing new projects for Amazon for multiple years. Pretty self-explanatory…but also pretty sad.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the deal also means it’s highly unlikely Sherman-Palladino and Palladino will revive Gilmore Girls anytime soon.”

So all the back-and-forth guesswork and interrogation of Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham about a potential second season of A Year in the Life can stop. Unless we want a repeat of season seven and reluctantly welcome a new person to run Gilmore Girls, it’s probably not going to happen.

We’d also rather not have Palladino and Sherman-Palladino squeeze out a rushed second season in between their hectic Amazon schedule. So…we might be okay with this.

And honestly, we think Graham and Bledel will be, too.

Folks, I think we can say our goodbyes to Gilmore Girls, for real this time.
