You probably already knew that Gilmore Girls stars Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia dated for a few years back in the day. But did you know Alexis also secretly dated Jared Padalecki?
In a new interview with Glamour, Jared openly discussed his relationship with Alexis for the first time. He revealed,
“When Alexis and I met, we were both 17 years old and were both Texans and kind of in this new, strange city and I was like, ‘Hey, want to go out to dinner?'”
He added,
“I don’t know if we tried to keep it a secret. I wish it was scandalous or something! I think it was more kind of silly. We were two 17-year-old kids who were like, ‘Hey, you want to go bowling?’ It wasn’t anything super juicy.”
Unlike what happened in the series, Jared confirms that Milo did not steal Alexis away from him. Rather, he and Alexis dated for a bit while filming season 1, before Milo joined the cast.
All in all, it sounds like it wasn’t such a serious relationship, especially compared to Alexis’ relationship with Milo (the pair publicly dated for nearly four years from 2002 to 2006).
Jared and Alexis’ relationship was technically revealed back in 2016 by the Gilmore Girls casting director around the time that the revival A Year in the Life premiered on Netflix.
She told Life & Style at the time,
“We did have a joke about casting all of Alexis’ [real-life] boyfriends. She dated Jared and Milo. And she also dated a young New York actor named Chris Heuisler, who played a guest role [in season 2]. Real sweet kid.”
Neither Jared nor Alexis responded to her comments at the time.
Since graduating from Gilmore Girls, both Jared and Alexis have gone on to find their real loves. Jared married his Supernatural co-star Genevieve Padalecki (neé Cortese) in February 2010. The two have three kids together: 8-year-old son Thomas, 7-year-old son Shepard, and 3-year-old daughter Odette.
Meanwhile, Alexis went on to marry actor Vincent Kartheiser in 2014 after guest-starring on Mad Men with him two years earlier. She gave birth to their son in 2015.
In addition to finding love, both Jared and Alexis have gone on to have extremely successful careers.
After Gilmore Girls, Alexis starred in several movies including Jenny’s Wedding and Post-Grad. She currently stars as Emily Malek in The Handmaid’s Tale.
As for Jared, he went on to star in Supernatural for 15 years, which ended in 2020. He currently stars in the new show Walker on The CW. The show is a reboot of the 1993 show Walker, Texas Ranger starring Chuck Norris.
