Oh. My. God. HBO is officially making everyone’s dreams come true by turning Elena Ferrante’s book My Brilliant Friend into a miniseries.

The Italian author’s identity is unknown but it appears that HBO was somehow able to track her down in order to make a deal for the first novel in a four-book series. Ferrante will co-write the 8-episode series, along with director Saverio Costanzo.

The book series followed the friendship of two women Lenu and Lila throughout their lives. The episodes will most likely closely follow the books, especially with Ferrante on as a screenwriter.

The books were all huge hits and even celebs such as Mindy Kaling, James Franco and Hillary Clinton had #FerranteFever.

Although HBO is only starting production on the first book, they reportedly have plans to do all four books: The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of the Lost Child.

We can’t wait to see what HBO has in store for us. Their current miniseries Big Little Lies, based on the book of the same name, is a huge hit so we have no doubt that My Brilliant Friend will be as well.
