Jennifer Lawrence Can't Stop Dressing Like an Old Jewish Grandma

Jennifer Lawrence is apparently intent on dressing like an elderly lady these days.

Most recently, she was spotted in Paris wearing a Jil Sander beige wool jacket and a Dior satin scarf wrapped around her head Babushka-style. Her outfit could have easily been taken directly from my nana’s closet (you know, if you my nana could have afforded Dior).

This was the second time she wore the Babushka look this week. Earlier, she rocked a black Dior scarf around her head paired with a brown Toteme coat. It wasn’t nearly as bad as her other look, but it also wasn’t great.

J. Law technically isn’t the first to try out the “Babushka trend,” which had a brief moment a few years ago. A$AP Rocky and Kendall Jenner also gave it a go, although they put a fashion twist on it. Jennifer Lawrence seems intent on sticking with a very literal interpretation.

In addition to wearing Babushka-style headscarves, Jennifer also wore an incredibly matronly outfit to an LVMH party in Paris earlier this week. The look — which was by Dior — consisted of a sheer grey top, an ill-fitting grey maxi skirt, and a skinny croc-embossed grey belt. Needless to say, it was so horrid that not even my nana would wear it.

Sadly, J. Law’s style started deteriorating long before Paris Fashion Week. In January, Jennifer was spotted wearing a Proenza Schouler gold velvet maxi dress paired with a vintage Bill Blass gold fur-trim animal print velvet maxi coat. Neither garment ever should have seen the light of day.

Her street style isn’t much better. Also in January, Jennifer wore the most hideous shoes that have ever been inflicted on us. The beige mesh flats — which Vogue dubbed “the best and worst thing to happen to fashion” — are by The Row and mostly made of nylon. And yet they somehow cost nearly $700.

Jennifer Lawrence’s abhorrent fashion choices are a great reminder that you can have all the money in the world, access to luxury brands and celebrity stylists, and still look absolutely terrible. In the words of Countess Luann de Lesseps, money can’t buy you class.
