Every year sees the rise of a new “it” bag and 2024’s couldn’t be more versatile — the Coach Brooklyn Bag.
The bag is simple enough in design — a classic leather hobo bag — and already has Bella Hadid‘s stamp of approval.

Of course, Bella isn’t the only one to fall in love with the Coach Brooklyn Bag — the shoulder bag is pretty much everywhere at this point (so much so that the brand keeps having to restock as various colors continue to sell out).
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the new “it” bag belongs to Coach. The 83-year-old brand has been gaining in popularity ever since Gen Z suddenly “discovered” it a few years ago.
Seemingly overnight, vintage Coach bags were being sold left and right on eBay, with big hauls flaunted on TikTok. According to British Vogue, searches for vintage Coach bags on eBay have risen 114% this year alone.
The generation has also latched on to the brand’s Tabby Bag, which launched in 2019.

The timing isn’t exactly a coincidence. In 2021, the brand started carefully crafting a marketing strategy to capture the attention of Gen Z. They even specifically chose the Tabby as their “launching pad”. And obviously, it worked.

I certainly don’t blame Gen Z for falling in love with Coach. I was in high school the last time the brand was “cool” and while I couldn’t afford the bags new, I was lucky enough to find two at thrift stores, both for under $50 (they clearly didn’t know what they had). The bags quickly became some of my most coveted items and I still have both purses over 15 years later.
And that’s how I know the real value of owning a Coach bag. The quality is second to none and if you wait long enough, it will always come back in fashion.
