The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has officially returned for season 12 and the drama has already started both onscreen and off.
Most recently, Crystal Kung Minkoff took the time to speak out after the season 12 trailer showed Erika Jayne accusing her of only caring about Tom Girardi’s victims “because it’s cool.”
Crystal told Page Six,
“It’s super cool [to support the victims]. I’m the coolest.”
She added,
“Here’s the thing. It’s hard for me to lean into something or go after someone if I’m not quite sure. But in this situation, defending victims is very easy. So it doesn’t bother me, you know what I mean?”
Although the fight in question has yet to air on TV, viewers got a glimpse in the RHOBH season 12 trailer in which Erika yelled at Crystal,
“You want to be on the side of the victims because you think it’s cool. What I’m telling you is I don’t give a f–k about anybody else but me!”
Looking back, Crystal believes that Erika most likely regrets what she said. She explained,
“I didn’t like any of that that she was saying in that moment. I don’t think anyone did. And I don’t even think Erika did. Everyone has their own regrets. The night she was yelling at me and the girls, she wanted to take that back.”
It sounds like Crystal is right, especially given Erika’s recent interview with Page Six. She told the outlet,
“Of course I have empathy for [the victims]. I had empathy for them then, and I have empathy for them now. And I trust that they will be taken care of.”
Erika reiterated somewhat similar sentiments in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She said,
“I also think that people misunderstand my concern and my compassion for those who have been wronged, and they will be taken care of. Of course I want to see that.”
Whether or not Tom’s victims will be “taken care of” has yet to be seen as the legal proceedings are still ongoing.
For those of you who may have forgotten, Tom Girardi and his law firm are facing a series of lawsuits, one of which claims that he withheld a $2M settlement from victims of the Indonesian plane crash of Lion Air flight 610 in 2019. The plane crash killed 189 passengers and crew members, leaving behind families, widows, and orphans.
In addition to facing several lawsuits, Tom Girardi has also been disbarred by California, had to file for bankruptcy for his firm, and is now living under a conservatorship overseen by his brother. Tom’s attorney claims that the former lawyer is fighting dementia and court documents assert that he “sadly deteriorated to the point where he cannot care for himself without assistance.”
