Conservative and radical right-wing media outlets are claiming that Trump supporters had nothing to do with the domestic terrorism committed on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, January 6.
Despite the footage of the infiltrators *clearly* wearing Trump merchandise, Trump supporters are now pretending like they had nothing to do with it.
On the radical right-wing network Newsmax, host Rob Schmitt said,
“At the end of the day, most Trump supporters love law enforcement. [They’re] not the sort of people that are going to go into the Capitol and start ripping things down.”
Fox News’ Sean Hannity reiterated the same sentiments and said,
“Those who truly support President Trump. . . do not support those that commit acts of violence.”
Meanwhile, Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade said,
“I do not know Trump supporters that have ever demonstrated violence that I know of in a big situation.”
Other right-wing TV personalities admitted that Trump supports were likely in the crowd but they were only there “protesting peacefully.”
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham said,
“They were likely not all Trump supporters.”
She then went on to claim that the rally had most likely been “infiltrated” by Antifa.
To be clear: there is absolutely zero evidence that anyone associated with Antifa was in the crowd.
Fact-checkers have confirmed that the terrorists who broke into the building were Trump supporters and QAnon supporters. All photos and video footage of the attack confirm the same thing.
This is a blatant attempt by the right-wing media to change the narrative and refuse to take responsibility for the violence and hatred that they have encouraged for years. These same TV personalities have been egging on supporters by spreading lies about Antifa, democratic politicians, and the 2020 election.
There is absolutely no question as to what led to the events on January 6 and who is responsible. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise, especially when you can see the truth with your own two eyes.
