The Super Bowl may be controversial but you know what’s not controversial? Rihanna’s halftime performance, which is anticipated to be iconic.

In honor of Rihanna’s upcoming show, she dropped a limited edition “Game Day” collection from her lingerie brand Savage X FENTY and pretty much everything is amazing.

The collection includes jerseys, hoodies, sweatpants, beanies, tees, boxers, and more — all honoring what’s been dubbed as the “Fenty Bowl.” After all, the 2023 Super Bowl is basically just a Rihanna concert with some football thrown in, right?

Fans are pretty stoked for Riri’s show, especially since she’s taken a step back from her music career for years to pursue several other business ventures including Savage X Fenty, Fenty Beauty, and Fenty Skin — all of which have been wildly successful.

Many folks are also pretty shocked that Rihanna agreed to do the show in the first place, especially since she previously turned down the gig.

Speaking with Vogue in 2019, Rihanna explained that she turned down the Super Bown halftime show due to the NFL’s horrible treatment of Colin Kaepernick. She said,

“I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”

What convinced Rihanna to change her mind is unclear, especially since any progress the NFL has made since then has been purely performative.

Rihanna did mention, however, that she was excited to challenge herself with the show.

She told ET,

“The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, it’s an entertainer’s dream to be on a stage like that. But it’s nerve-racking. You want to get it right. You know, everybody’s watching. And they’re rooting for you. And I want to get it right.”

She continued,

“You could get real comfortable being at home as a mom, [so this is] challenging myself to do something that I’ve never done before in my career. I have to live up to that challenge.”

Rihanna is keeping the specifics of her performance pretty close to the vest, especially whether or not any guests will join her on stage.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show will occur on February 12, 2023. In the meantime, shop our top picks from her “Game Day” collection to help get you hyped.
