After giving an inspiring speech at the AMAs, Selena Gomez took to social media to thank her fans for helping her get through the touch times.
In honor of Thanksgiving, the singer posted on Instagram how thankful she was, especially considering how difficult this hear was for her emotionally.
“I have a lot to be thankful for this year.. My year has been the hardest yet most rewarding one yet. Ive finally fought the fight if ‘not being good enough.’ I only wanted to reflect the love you guys have given me for years and show how important it is to take care of YOU. By grace through faith. Kindness always wins.”
Aww! So sweet!
Selena has been particularly vocal recently about the mental health challenges she’s faced. We’re so glad she was able to get the help she needed and was able to finally realize the importance of self-care.
an unauthentic life
Gomez previously admitted to fans that she had been living an “inauthentic” life. The singer confessed she no longer felt connected to herself or her music, among other things in her confession.
“Tonight I felt extremely unauthentic, unconnected to both myself and my music. I’ve never really felt like my materials, wardrobe, or a video could define me. I act on a moment and fear something that hasn’t happened. I’m stagnant, I stay still and don’t just sit with myself first and ask, ‘is this where I am wholeheartedly?’ I’ve always told the truth. I’m always true to my word, I’ve shown who I am but I need to rethink some areas of my life creatively and personally. Had to get that out.”
We can’t tell if Selena is feeling reflective due to her recent birthday, or if tour life is getting her down. We know life on the road can be tough. Not only that, but living with lupus can lead to intermittent “feelings of unhappiness, frustration, anger, or sadness” according to Lupus.org.

Hopefully, she has support around her while she’s dealing with whatever she’s currently facing.
Additionally, Selena captioned her Instagram words with, “Not being negative about anything I’ve done. I’m grateful for every single moment I get here.”
The “Kill Em With Kindness” singer is currently on her international Revival tour. Her most recent stop was in Indonesia.
making a name for herself
No matter the success she achieves, reporters only want to talk about who she’s dating and Selena Gomez is over it.
In a recent interview with Marie Claire, Selena discussed how hard it can be when the press only wants to know your relationship status.
I would try to promote something that I loved, and the entire interview would be about my personal life. I would leave a room feeling defeated, feeling embarrassed, but I would always make sure to put that smile on my face because I wasn’t going to let them get to me.”
Selena has been hustling for quite some time now to make a name for herself, and has even recently taken full control of her career.
“They make great choices, but I make the decisions,” she said of her team.
We’re totally supportive of Sel’s career and we hope the media can start appreciating her for the musician she is.
