So the other day when Serena Williams dropped the pregnancy bomb on Snapchat? Yeah, well that was an accident.
On Tuesday, Williams chatted with Gayle King at the Ted Talks conference where she revealed,
“I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m going. I didn’t tell a lot of people to be quite honest and I’d been saving it. On social media, you press the wrong button and… Thirty minutes later I missed four calls and I’m like, ‘That’s weird.’ But it was a good moment. I was only going to wait five or six more days [to share].”
Lol! Woops! Guess that explains why she deleted it so quickly — not quick enough, however, as many fans were able to screenshot the snap in time.
Serena and her fiancé Alexis Ohanian recently returned from their babymoon in Tulum, where the picture of her 20-week baby bump was taken.
After the big (accidental) reveal, Williams posted a picture to Instagram along with a letter to her future child. She wrote,
“My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you.”
During the Ted Talk, Williams also discussed her post-baby career goals, in which she plans to get right back on the court.
“My baby’s going to be in the stands, hopefully cheering for me.”
